Review: “Gotham Academy, Vol. 1: Welcome to Gotham Academy” from DC Comics

23395763Gotham Academy: Spooky campus? Check. Oddball teachers? Check. Strange students? Double check.

In Gotham City’s most prestigious academy strange things can happen. The story follows Olive, a student with a secret. As Olive struggles to cope with her mysterious past, she must move through school and relationships to try to keep a normal appearance. And on top of that, she learns that Gotham Academy is haunted. But, by what?

After reading the complete volume of Gotham Academy, I became completely¬†enamored with the story of Olive Silverlock and her crew of mystery-solving classmates. The impressively raveled mystery is gripping, creepy, and happily suspenseful. The graphic novel’s art is expressive and beautiful. The story has a completely new take on an unseen part of Gotham while incorporating subtle nods to the the rest of the DC Comic verse.

The story appeals to young comic fans, with it’s spooky, suspenseful story and its graphically appealing art.

4/5 Stars.

I received a free e-book copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
